Hello University of Windsor Students!

My name is Alyssa Atkins and I am this year's VPA for the UWSA. As a fellow student, I can see the importance for the UWSA Executive to provide incredible transparency to students as WE'RE HERE FOR YOU! I can't begin to tell you how ecstatic I am to hold this position and how hard I'm ready to work to make this year's campus experience the best you've ever seen! I'm going to try to update this blog once a week (hopefully every Friday) to let you all know what we're up to here at the UWSA office so you can all hold us accountable.

I am incredibly passionate about the University of Windsor and am going to work endlessly to ensure that we increase school spirit this year and get people excited about our amazing school, beautiful campus, and  awesome students!

A little bit about me if you'd like to know, I am a 4th year (well, I guess 5th year now--yikes) business student and am incredibly passionate about entrepreneurship and women in business! Actually, this year I'm the President of the Odette Women In Management Association (OWIMA), where we work to overcome challenges and issues currently facing women and other minorities in the management world. I've also run my own business as a College Pro franchisee for the last three summers where I learned more about business, relationships, and management than I ever thought! Wow, what an amazing experience. I also spent a semester on exchange in Jonkoping, Sweden, something I think EVERY student should do! It was really amazing being in a room with ten people from ten different countries and learning about the intricacies of their cultures and realize how similar we all actually are. It also allowed me to travel allllllllll over the world! Basically, in a nutshell, I love to travel, debate, read, have fun, hang out with my crazy family, and research the latest up and coming start-ups!

Now enough about me and more about you! Windsor and its students are amazing, and I think that our attitudes should reflect this more potently. I can't wait for a transformative year for this school and I feel so honoured to be a part of it!

Thank you so much for electing me this year, I promise I won't let you down!

Best,

Alyssa
